Campus as a Companion for Teachers Implementing a Novel Project

At Campus, we are excited to partner with ProAgria and Fun Academy to bring a unique and engaging experience to the Farmari Agricultural Show in Finland this summer with the launch of the "Önni Möö" project. This initiative combines fun, play, and agriculture, offering children an immersive way to learn about farm life, sustainability and preparedness in an age appropriate and playful manner. Through our easy-to-use three-step learning platform, teachers will be able to seamlessly integrate the next phase of this project into their curriculum, providing a rich and educational experience for their students.

Exploring the Farm with Önni Möö and Peruna

Children visiting the Farmari event will have the opportunity to follow a special path designed by Önni Möö, a worm dedicated to maintaining soil health on the farm. Accompanying Önni Möö is Peruna, a potato (peruna = potato in Finnish) who shares fascinating insights about how food grows in the soil. Soca, one of our Kip Crew astronauts, who speaks the language of flora and fauna, helps bridge the communication between these new friends and the visitors.

The Önni Möö path features several interactive stations, each providing hands-on learning experiences about different aspects of farm life. These stations make the journey both educational and fun, guiding children through various farm activities. The Kip Crew, Önni Möö, and Peruna help children understand agricultural professions, food production, and the diverse ecosystem of a farm, encouraging exploration of topics like technology, the annual farming cycle, cooperation, and community—all through play.

One of the highlights of the event is the classic game of cornhole, which Önni Möö has brought along for everyone to enjoy. This bean bag toss game is perfect for all ages, teaching younger children the skill of underhand throwing and the importance of following game rules. The Kip Crew ties this game to their story by explaining how winter fodder is harvested on Kipinoi (the planet Kipinoi is known in the Kip Crew galaxy 😁).

Continuing the Adventure in Early Childhood Education

After the Farmari event, the adventures of Önni Möö and Peruna will continue in early childhood education settings. Starting this fall, they will introduce children to the yearly farming cycle and various farm activities through playful learning methods. Developed in collaboration with early childhood education professionals and industry experts, these play ideas will be available for free to early childhood education units through our Campus platform.

Why Campus is the Perfect Platform for This Project

The Önni Möö project instructions and resources will be delivered via Campus that offers an easy-to-use, three-step learning approach for teachers. Here’s how Campus makes this project even more impactful:

Flexibility and Convenience

Teachers can access training materials and resources from anywhere, fitting learning into their busy schedules and enhancing the overall educational experience.

Connectivity and Collaboration

The Campus platform allows teachers to connect with peers and mentors for inspiration, facilitating the exchange of practical ideas.

Broad Range of Resources

Through Campus, teachers can easily access the diverse array of resources.

Cost Savings and Efficiency

Online training eliminates travel and accommodation expenses, allowing organizations to train larger numbers of educators simultaneously, increasing efficiency and reducing logistical challenges.

Staying Current

The platform provides opportunities to refresh; both in form of access to new resources and find practical tips.

Raising Awareness About Agriculture and Farming

ProAgria aims to make farm operations and sustainable food production more familiar to children. "Through this project, we hope to offer engaging games, materials, and invitations to play that respect the value of teamwork and children’s natural curiosity. Many children have become disconnected from understanding how food is responsibly produced and what happens on farms," says Suvi Anttila, ProAgria’s Director of Public Relations and Sustainability.

Partnerships to Bring Experts Closer to the Children

The project continues to expand with new partners joining, the Potato Industry Cooperation Group (PAYR) being the first to join with ProAgria, Fun Academy, Önni Möö and Peruna (the potato).

By utilizing the Campus platform, this comprehensive farm ecosystem program will provide teachers with the tools and resources they need to bring age appropriate and current expert information to their students, to foster a culture of child participation, and enhance self-efficacy for all children.

If you have any type of a program or project that cold benefit from effective implementation support, look no further; ask our partners how this works, maybe your next program will be delivered via Campus, too!
